Around Here #4 - Muay Thai

Context
AROUND HERE is a series of visual and written essays on life put together by photographer Daniel Cheetham. This issue centres on All Powers Gym and its exponents of Muay Thai, the art of eight limbs. A combat sport from Thailand that requires participants to use striking moves with the feet, knees, elbows and fist in order to defeat the opponent.
Solution
As Muay Thai is the art of eight limbs, I took this thought into the design. The type is set on an eight column grid, with page furniture annotating each of the eight limbs in sequence. There are eight ‘chapters’ of the story, and the typography is designed to represent two protagonists sparring in the ring. It’s printed on large format newspaper stock.
